Carmen Isabella Vera

Overview

Carmen Vera is an associate attorney whose practice focuses on tax controversy and tax dispute resolution. She represents taxpayers in matters involving federal and California tax agencies, drawing on both her academic training and hands-on experience gained through taxpayer advocacy clinics and government service.

Carmen earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and her Juris Doctor from Chapman University Fowler School of Law in 2022. While in law school, she received the Tax Law Honors Scholarship and completed the law school's Tax Law Emphasis program. Carmen served as President of the Latinx Law Student Association, helping support and mentor fellow law students while promoting diversity within the legal profession.

During law school, Carmen worked with the Chapman University Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, assisting taxpayers in resolving disputes with taxing authorities. She also gained valuable government experience as an intern with the California Office of Tax Appeals in 2020, where she assisted in drafting an opinion addressing the Earned Income Tax Credit that has since become precedential in California. In addition, she worked with the Franchise Tax Board's Tax Appeals Assistance Program, further expanding her experience in taxpayer advocacy and administrative tax matters.

Carmen is a member of the American Bar Association Tax Section and the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA).

Outside of the office, Carmen enjoys exploring Orange County's regional parks with her Chihuahua, swimming, and paddleboarding.
