October 8, 2026

Taylor Nelson Amitrano LLP is pleased to announce that Richard Stack has joined the firm as Senior Counsel.

Richard brings nearly 38 years of experience representing clients in complex civil and criminal tax controversies involving the IRS and state taxing authorities. His extensive litigation experience spans the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He also has substantial experience resolving tax disputes at the administrative level before the IRS and California taxing authorities.

Before entering private practice, Richard served for more than 20 years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Tax Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. In that role, he prosecuted tax and financial crimes and represented the United States in a wide range of civil tax controversies. Earlier in his career, Richard served as a Trial Attorney with IRS District Counsel, representing the Commissioner of Internal Revenue in Tax Court proceedings and handling tax assessment, collection, and bankruptcy matters.

Richard earned his Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Richard’s distinguished career in government service and private practice further strengthens Taylor Nelson Amitrano LLP’s capabilities in representing clients facing complex federal and state tax disputes, from administrative proceedings through litigation.
