Sending Our Lawyers to DC to Engage with Top Tax and Federal Goverment Officials

May 2, 2025

We are proud to announce several of the attorneys at Taylor Nelson Amitrano LLP have been invited to present at the annual California Lawyers Association Taxation Section D.C. Delegation on May 5-7, 2025. For this highly anticipated event, our California tax attorneys are heading to D.C. to share ideas and engage with top tax and government officials from various agencies—ranging from the IRS to the Joint Committee on Taxation to the Department of Justice Tax Division, among others.

  • Robert Russell and Michael Romero will present a paper proposing changes to the IRS Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures, a program for taxpayers to correct offshore disclosure reporting issues.
  • Dennis Nguyen will present a paper seeking to improve IRS Guidance on theft loss deductions, including clarifying profit motive, providing clearer partial theft loss standards, and establishing safe harbors for recovery efforts and retirement distributions.
  • Jonathan Amitrano and Phillip Colasanto of Withers Bergman LLP, will present a paper proposing statutory and regulatory amendments to the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980 (FIRPTA).
